Kindred

You know the half-remembered stories of greatness the elders still tell by firelight, and cautionary tales of pride that led to the world’s breaking which are remembered less every generation. The world you inhabit is rustic, scarred, and perpetually threatened. Old roads crumble into weed-choked trails. Once-bright cities lay in ruins.  Tyrants, monsters, and remnants of bygone mistakes plague the land.  In the Marchlands, triumph is not only measured in monsters slain or battles won. Sometimes resisting calamity and mending the world means choosing to plant orchards where battlefields once stood, to settle disputes before they become wars, and to build a life worth defending. 

What is this?

This is a roleplaying game about living in, connecting, building, and defending communities on the edge of civilization in a world still healing from disaster. 

Playing Cards?

This game does not use dice, instead resolving randomness through ordinary french-suited playing cards.  

Players

Players take on the role of Marchlanders.  To be a Marchlander is to grow up in a time between what was lost and what might yet be restored. A Marchlander may be alone, part of a group, and part of a larger community - a player will have some degree of control over each.  

Solo Play?

This game was made to be played solo entirely through procedure, if need be.  More creative solo play is encouraged if desired, and playing like a more traditional role playing game, with one participant serving as the game master/referee/arbiter is not only possible but allows for a much broader spectrum of experiences.  If you can find a group willing to play, of course.
